![]() ![]() Jeffrey Dean Morgan is a unique talent, and having him appear in only one episode of Shameless feels like a tease in hindsight.ĭermot Mulroney and Jeffrey Dean Morgan are two different actors and would've played Fiona's new love interest disparately. Though audiences can guess what would've happened to the character, as it seemed like they gave his arc to Sean (played by Dermot Mulroney), it doesn't change the fact that Jeffrey Dean Morgan had one of the most bizarre and unexplained Shameless character exits that on another hand could've really hurt the series. On the one hand, Charlie Peters should've been given more of a chance on Shameless. Dermot Mulroney was perfect in the role of Sean, and while Morgan is a talented actor, it's hard to imagine anyone else playing that arc as well as Mulroney did. This ultimately worked out for the best, especially for Morgan as he shot to Walking Dead fame and is now starring in his own TWD spinoff. Dermot Mulroney basically took over the character, but was given a different name. Later in the installment he and Fiona even attended a recovery meeting, but Charlie became one of the characters written out of Shameless because Jeffrey Dean Morgan had scheduling conflicts. ![]() Charlie does offer Fiona the gig, provided she doesn't show up to work drunk or high, and it seemed as though Charlie would become Fiona's next potential love interest, or at least a mainstay character. Charlie was introduced in the Shameless season 4 finale as the owner of the Golden House Restaurant, where Fiona's parole officer takes her to get a job. One of the most bizarre Shameless character exits was that of Jeffrey Dean Morgan's Charlie. ![]()
